Turaki targets creating a deadly anti-smuggling machine

IMG_3604The new Controller, Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘A’ Ikeja-Lagos, DC Turaki Usman Adamu is intensifying his plans, for a total overhauling of his command’s anti-smuggling machine, in line with his pledge to seriously reposition the unit.

pic of pp of turakiThe Controller in his maiden address to the officers/men of the Unit, had warned that he was taking over to stamp his mark on the sands of time, as an anti-smuggling warlord, at the expense, of the smugglers.

The Maritime First learnt that with current measures being pursued, the unit may soon evolve into both a hub and flagship for anti-smuggling activities in Nigeria.

“He is leveraging on the high morale of the officers and men of the command”, an officer told a Maritime First correspondent, noting that the new Controller was already, clearly studying a comprehensive routes of smugglers, based on intelligence. 

Meanwhile, DC Turaki has also  charged all officers/men of the command to redouble their effort in the task of policing the borders, and complimenting the efforts of other Customs Commands,  describing the anti-smuggling duty as  a very herculean war that must be won.

He reiterated the need for officers to continually work towards reciprocating the kind gestures of the CGC Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde and his management in all spheres, by being proactive, creative and imaginative, if they must remain, several steps above the smugglers craftiness.

He assured them of the increasing resolve of the CGC to continue to provide  an enabling environment and logistics, all in a bid to guarantee their effectiveness in the performance of their statutory task.

“Discipline, dedication, commitment and absolute loyalty will be the guiding ethics of his regime”, he posited, stressing the need for officers/men of the unit to get well acquainted with the transformation agenda of the CGC in the areas of trade facilitation.

On the Nigeria trade hub, or single window, he highlighted that part of the. genuine efforts of the Customs management was to take the Service to an enviable height in line with global standards; and charged the entire Unit to rally round the Customs management for the actualization of the mission and vision of the CGC and his management. 

He assured that the cordial relationship between the Unit and other critical stakeholders, particularly other Security Agencies must be enhanced in line with the six point’s agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs, and eulogized the teams that have made remarkable Seizures, promising to do everything humanly possible to take them to the apex of new glory.
