Two school children drown, four missing in China

At least two primary school students were drowned and four others missing after they went for a swim in a river in southwest China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, police said on Thursday.

The students, who were from Qingshuikou Township Central Primary School in Beiliu City, went for swimming after school yesterday.

Frogmen aided the search overnight and found the two bodies, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The city government have asked schools to warn students of the dangers of strong river currents.

In the meantime, six persons including five suspected militants and a fire fighter were killed in a suicide bomb blast during a police raid in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district of Bangladesh on Thursday.

The suspected militants blew themselves to thwart police from storming their hideout in a house in Rajshahi.Two policemen were also injured during the raid.The police rescued a woman and her two children during the raid.

The deceased were identified as Sajjad Ali, 50, his wife Beli, 40, their sons Al Amin, 30, and Soyaiyad, 25, and their daughter Karima, 28, reports the Daily Star.

The suspects came out and attacked officials with sharp weapons when they were about to approach the house killing fireman Abdul Matin.

A police official was quoted by as saying that they surrounded the houses based on intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there.
