BEDC transformer explodes, throws Asaba, 4 other communities in darkness

An explosion on the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, 60 mva, 132/33kv transmission transformer at Asaba, Delta State, has thrown numerous residents in the capital city and neighbouring communities into darkness.

The management of the company in a press statement confirmed the explosion, saying: “The entire Koka Business unit, comprising Ezenei, Federal College of Education (Technical), towards Osadebey Way, Bonsac, Cable/Jarret axis are affected.” “Also affected are Ibusa, Ogwashi-Uku, Ubuluku axis, Issele –Uku in Asaba business unit,” it added. “Already, efforts are on to get the Transmission Company of Nigeria to effect immediate repairs as soon as possible. “The management of BEDC regrets the inconveniences to our customers and thank you for your understanding in their regard,” the company stated.
