…Gets N10m bail term***
Lagos Big Girl and youth employment consultant, Ms Ronke Kosoko was today docked at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi Lagos, over cyber crime allegations.
Ronke was slammed with two-count charge ref: FHC/L/50C/2019 by the Federal Government over a letter she allegedly wrote and dispatched to the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, transmitting allegations that Government believes were false.
The Maritime First can authoritatively report that Ms Kosoko told the court that she fully understood the meaning and content of the two counts which read as follows:
Count 1: That you Ronke Kosoko ‘f’ on or about the 13th day of January, 2019 at ikeja area of Lagos, in the Federal High Court judicial division knowingly or intentionally sent an email message to the Common Wealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, hatred to the public that one Mr Greg Ogbeifun ‘m’ engaged in idea-theft, sex and rape scandal, an information which you know to be false and punishable under section 24 (1) (a) (b) of the cybercrimes (prohibition, prevention etc) Act, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2015.
Count II: That you Ronke Kosoko ‘f’ on or about the 13th day of January, 2019 at Ikeja area of Lagos, in the Federal High Court, judicial division knowingly or intentionally transmits several email text messages to one Mr. Greg Ogbeifun and thereby, committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 24 (2) (a) (b) (c) (i) of the cybercrimes (prohibition, prevention etc) Act, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2015.
Ronke pleaded not guilty to both charges. The penalty for the offence ranges between a minimum of N5m and N15m and between Three years to 15 years on conviction, respectively.
The Prosecution lawyer, A.O. Nwabuisi prayed the Court for accelerated hearing, upon which the Hon. Justice A.O. Faji adjourned the case to April 8, 10 and 11th, 2019; and remanded Ronke Kosoko in Kirikiri Prison, setting a bail conditions of N10m for the defendant and two sureties in same amount.
Justice Faji also said the Sureties must be residents in Lagos and showed evidence of three year tax payments.
