…No shipwrecks, fortunately***

Cargo ship YUAN HAI 9 suffered engine and steering failure while en route from Shidao Yellow sea to Guangzhou, carrying some 10000 tons of steel.

Reportedly the ship was distress on Aug 8, after being anchored for some time E of Shanghai.

SAR ship DONG HAI JIU 101 ( IMO 9654816) was sent to assist, in severe storm brought by passing typhoon LEKIMA, salvors and 15 crew of YUAN HAI 15 managed to take her on tow, in the evening Aug 9 she was towed to Shanghai and anchored.

In the meantime, some 125 ships, including 100 fishing vessels, were distressed by typhoon LEKIMA, 18 of them were pushed aground, understand nearly all of them being fishing vessels. Only one cargo ship so far, reported to be grounded – HK-based general cargo ship.
