Freighter with timber bound for Sweden aground, Russian Inner Waterways

General cargo ship OMSKIY-137 at 0415 Moscow time Aug 14 ran aground on river Svir, North West Russia, S-Petersburg Region.

The ship is en route to Sweden with cargo of timber.

Ballast tanks were breached, crew unable to control water inflow with ship’s means. The ship is to remain aground, outside fairway, waiting for lightering.

Part of cargo, enabling refloating, is to be relocated to sister ship OMSKIY-133 by a floating crane.
