The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a self acclaimed pastor who lures his female victims to his hideout in Awe town near Oyo and, rapes them after dispossessing them of their belongings.

The suspect was paraded along 28 other suspects also paraded by the command on Monday in Ibadan.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Shina Olukolu, said information about the suspect got to the office of the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Oyo on August 15, noting that the suspect specialised in luring unsuspecting female victims to his hideout at Awe town where he allegedly rapes them.

According to the police chief, the suspect will then  dispose the female victims of their belongings as well as engage in “spiritual cleansing” for ritual purposes.

He said some items including a cell phone were recovered from him.

“One Infinix cell phone with which he took obscene pictures of his victims was recovered from him.

“He claimed to be the pastor of one Gospel Ministry Commission based in Bashi Quarters in Awe upon interrogation.

“His confessions led to the arrest of one of his accomplices, an alleged quack medical practitioner who performed abortion on one of his victims,” Olukolu said.

The police also paraded another suspected rapist who made video recordings and took obscene pictures of his sexual activities with the victims in order to blackmail them with threats of posting them on the internet.

Olukolu said that two jack knives and a Mazda car were recovered from him.

However in Yola, Police have arrested a man for an alleged rape of 5-year-old girl.

The Adamawa Police Command says it arrested a 19-year-old man Adamu Abdullahi, who allegedly raped a five-year-old girl in Yola town.

The command Spokesman, DSP Suleiman Yahaya, who confirmed the story on Monday in Yola, said the command was informed of the incident when the girl was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Yahaya said that the incident occurred on Aug 23, but the parents of the girl concealed the incident from neighbours and the police.

He said Abdullahi lured her into an uncompleted building and had canal knowledge of the girl, which resulted in severe injuries to the child.

“The parents wanted to hide the incident, but when they realised they could not manage the injury, they took her to a hospital and the police was invited by the hospital management.

“When the Commissioner of Police heard of it, he ordered for the arrest of the suspect,” Yahaya said, adding that the suspect would soon be charge to court after the matter had been investigated.
