So far, I can’t find anything wrong in Hameed Ali’s regime – Willy Egbudin

A retired Comptroller of Customs, Willy Egbudin has debunked the story making the rounds, that he berated the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Col. Hameed Ali and his management team, for frustrating the Federal Government’s Ease of Doing Business, by creating bottleneck at the ports.

The revered, retired Comptroller said nothing could be farther, from the truth

“Nothing can be further from the truth than this unholy write up, as it is a figment of imagination of the author”, Willy Egbudin said, saying he was yet to find where he could truly or honestly criticize Hameed Ali or his management, so far.

“The CGC & his management team are doing a great job as it could be noticed in the astronomical rise in revenue generation which is unprecedented in the history of the Service”, he posited

It could be recalled that Customs operatives had last month sealed Clarion Bonded Terminal over claims that it was operating in contravention of laid down rules & procedures as the space was allegedly not designated for such purpose.

The closure of the facility had left containers worth billions of Naira trapped, while accruing demurrage leaving owners of the goods & their agents at the mercy of Customs.

The retired Comptroller maintained that no container leaves any Customs designated area without the approval of Customs therefore, the issue of frustrating the ease of doing business does not arise.

Retired Comptroller Egbudin further said that at no time did he grant any media organization an interview talk less of making such far reaching negative comments on the activities of any government body, much less the Nigeria Customs Service and it’s management.

He therefore calls on all well meaning Nigerians to disregard the publication as a false representation of his person and ideal which he is known for over the year in the service of NCS and now in retirement.
