…As German mother charged with murdering 5 of her children***
Kaduna State may have gradually emerged a hot deathbed as the State Government has again announced that suspected bandits have killed 10 other persons in Zangon Kataf and Chikun Local Government Areas of the state.
Recently, bandits regularly kill people in the State, only for the State Government to helplessly announce the figures of victims.
Doing this on Monday, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the killing in a statement issued in Kaduna.
Aruwan said the military and other security agencies had reported the killing of 10 citizens in Zangon Kataf and Chikun local government areas.
“In Zangon Kataf, Kurmin Gandu village was attacked by bandits, with five persons being killed. ln addition, 10 houses, two motorcycles and 50 bags of ginger were set ablaze.
“Some dry season farmers lost water pumping machines and other valuables around the Zango Urban general area.
According to the commissioner, some survivors of the attack are recuperating in hospital.
Aruwan added that search and rescue operations were in progress, and information arising from the exercise would be communicated to the public.
He explained that it took the military hours to contain what would have resulted in further violence in the general area.
“Similarly, security agencies reported that armed bandits attacked Sabon Gayan village in Chikun local government area and killed four persons,” he said.
He said troops of “Operation Thunder Strike” were combing identified criminal hideouts in Sabon Gayan area, following reports that several bandits sustained bullet wounds.
“In another incident, bandits attacked Ungwan Turai, also in Chikun local government area and killed one person,” Aruwan said.
Meanwhile, Gov. Nasir El-Rufai has again expressed sadness at the attacks, and sent his condolences to the families of those killed, while praying for the repose of their souls.
In another development in Dusseldorf, a mother from the western German city of Solingen accused of killing five of her six children has been charged with murder on all five counts. A court spokesman said on Monday that the woman, aged 27 at the time of the crimes, is thought to have sedated the children with an over-the-counter drug before suffocating them.
The dead children were discovered at her flat in Solingen on September 3, 2020.
After killing the children, the woman threw herself in front of a train at the main railway station in nearby Dusseldorf. She was seriously injured but survived.
The children were Melina (1), Leonie (2), Sophie (3), Timo (6) and Luca (8).
The woman has since claimed that a stranger broke into her residence and killed the children.
However, the public prosecutor says there is no evidence to back that claim up.
