Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), in Kaduna State, Mr Hafiz Mohammed, on Tuesday confirmed the death of 12 persons in a ghastly automobile accident along Kaduna to Abuja road.

Mohammed told the newsmen that the crash involved a lone Toyota Hiace bus carrying 18 passengers.

He said the incident, which occurred at about 12:00 pm on Monday, also resulted in the injury of six other occupants of the vehicle.

Newsmen gathered that tyre burst was the cause of the crash, and that the vehicle was on its way to Zaria in Kaduna state.

In another development,  the Kano State Fire Service has confirmed the death of a 41-year-old man, Kabiru Yusuf in his bedroom at Sheka, Dan Tsinke Village, of suspected cholera, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer of the service, said in a statement on Monday, in Kano.

He explained that Kabiru suffered from the ailment while his wife was away to her parent’s home, after she had delivered their newborn baby when the incident happened.

“We received a distress call at about 09:40 a.m. from one Bala Sa’idu and immediately sent our rescue team to the scene at about 09:50 a.m,” he said.

He added that the corpse had been handed over to the Na’ibawa Police Division for further investigations.
