… As Police arraign man, 18, for alleged N9,500 phone theft***
A 52-year old woman, Patience Ayube and her son, Josiah on Wednesday appeared in a Magistrates’ Court in Ile-Ife, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle worth N285, 000.
The police charged Ayube, Josiah alongside Oluwaseun Joseph, 22 and Friday Emmanuel, 20, were charged with two counts of conspiracy and theft.
The prosecution counsel, ASP Abdullahi Emmanuel, told the court that the defendants stole a Honda Motorcycle worth N285,000, property of the complainant, Emmanuel Akpan.
He also alleged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breakdown of law and order at Texaxo Area, in Ile-Ife.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendants also assaulted the complainant for accusing them of stealing.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 249(d), 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Olalekan Babatunde, prayed the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal term.
Magistrate A.I Oyebadejo admitted he defendants bail in the sum of N50,000each with one surety each in like sum.
Oyebadejo ordered that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means and adjourned the case until June 30, for definite hearing.
In the meantime, the Police on Wednesday arraigned an 18-year-old, Henry Gabriel, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one Tecno phone valued at N9,500.
The defendant of no fixed address is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leramo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 13, at about 10:00 a.m at Irona Area in Ado-Ekiti.
Leramo alleged that the defendant stole the phone belonging to one Funmilayo Abodoja.
He said the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Titilayo Ola-Olorun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 5, for hearing.
