Mixed reactions as BBNaija Season 4 ends

…Fans conclude: Intelligence not enough in Nigeria!***

Mixed reactions continued to flow as the organizers of the Big Brother Naija pulled down the flag of the event’s Season Four down on Sunday, even as Mercy Eke emerged winner, on the 99th day.

Mercy Eke became the first woman to win BBNaija. She led with 41.77 per cent  of the votes, while first runner up, Mike Edwards got 19.94 percent, emerging second out of the 26 housemates that went into the house this season. Chemeke Okoye aka Frodd came third, Seyi Awolowo came fourth and Omashola Oburoh came fifth.

Seyi won the ONE health task and Mike walked away with N2 million for the arena games.

Fans share their thoughts on the choice of the winner, morality of the show as well as the next television content for young people.

Ikechukwu Christopher, a business man and ardent viewer of BB, said: “The worst of the five finalists won and that is sad.

“We are celebrating mediocrity; we actually stayed glued to our TVs just for the worst of them to win.

“We had Seyi about the most intelligent of the five, Mike a celebrated Olympian and Frodd an intelligent young man, just to see Mercy win.

“This speaks volumes about this country. It is sad indeed,” Christopher said.

A young lady, who calls herself King Towmeey, said Mercy’s victory is a victory for young aspiring women, “a victory for being focused and knowing what you want in spite of your age or gender.

“Young women will be influenced by this victory, knowing that one can move from grass to grace,” she said.

@Dsimodun said, “Make first class at a university, no recognition. Have sex on national TV (BBNaija), win N60 million. What a debased society.”

@TomisinAgboyin tweeted, “#Mercy congratulations mercy, u deserved to win, as for Mike the sky is ur starting point. Always believe in yourself.”

@Hamza said, “Mike and Seyi will make more money than everyone else in that house. Mike and seyi’s story will be similar to that of Tobi and Bisola’s story.

“Congratulations @aireyys and my friend @seyiawolowo. I love you guys.”

Mercy’s win caused wild jubilation as some fans could not hide their excitement on social media. Also, celebrities Dencia and Laura Ikeji expressed their joy.

Fans also congratulated Mike for staying true to himself and putting up a good show to make it to the finals. Seyi was also applauded for winning the health task.

@Lauraikeji tweeted, “Our work here is done.”

@Sweetzy said, “Mike didn’t win the prize money but he won people’s hearts and fans ready to support his hustle. #BBNaija is a platform to open doors to many things ahead.

“Thanks to all the team members for all u did every time he was nominated. He was never evicted!!’

@Marvelous said, “Congratulations to the PLUG MERCY for she’s the first female to win the grand price of #BBNaija as we’ve predicted. On this #BBNaijaFinale. Your love.”

@Somto said, “As the BBN S4 comes to an end, here are the major lessons:

“Good character will take you to a place where hardwork alone cannot take you to. Arrogance will bring you down so soon. Be humble and trust the process.”

@Iveren tweeted, “Mike was the real underdog this season. He came into the game with no ideas of what it would be like.

“Just his pleasant self and see how far he has come. Once again @aireyys I am super proud of you.”

@Bello tweeted, “7billion in Naira from votes!! Wow. Wow. Wow. The energy was mad. What else are we putting this energy! Don’t tell me it’s until the next BBN.

“Let’s do something to Nation building, community development and service no matter how little. #BBNaijaFinale.”

This season had the highest number of housemates with 26 housemates, who spent 99 days fighting for the N60 million ‘Grand Prize’.

Lighter Mood: The Neighbour’s White Goat!

*1. The moment I knew Nigeria was in trouble was when someone stole his neighbor’s white goat and dyed it black, only for the neighbor to say he recognized the goat by it’s smile.*

*2. The best strategy to win arguements is to have serious mouth odour, they will just be nodding their head in agreement.*

*3. I don’t like people who can’t let go of the past – especially people I owe money.*

*4. Hmmm ….. When NEPA takes light, a true Nigerian will stand up and check outside, to make sure their neighbors don’t have light too! And you believe, you will make Heaven abi.*

*5. You will buy sachet water and finish it at once. But when you buy bottle water, you will be opening and closing it as if it’s doctor’s prescription.*

*6. At home you can’t sleep without switching off ‘ur small radio but you can sleep in Church with eight speakers blasting in ‘ur ear … it is called Demonic soft work.*

*7. In Africa once your phone rings in the church or mosque, everybody will start looking at you as if Satan is the one calling.* 😄😄😄😄

*8. I still don’t understand how Nigerian Cockroaches survive inside microwave, gas cooker oven, etc. You will be warming food and you will see them walking inside like Shedrack, Meshack & Abednego.* 🙄🙄 *Maybe they also serve a Mighty God.*

*Anybody with an explanation?*😜😜😜

*Please, put a smile 😊🙂😉🙂😘 on someone’s face to calm down tension caused by Political Jobbers and other stress.* 😁😁

Pilgrimage: Participation May Slide As Adamawa Announces N4.679m For 2024 Hajj

…Executive Secretary blames increment from N2.89m on rising operational costs, exchange rate fluctuations and inflation

Participation at the 2024 Pilgrimage in Adamawa may shrink as the State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Commission has announced N4.679 million fare, for this year’s Hajj.

What goes for Adamawa, may similarly affect the other states of the country, as hajj fare in 2023 was only N2.89 million.

The Executive Secretary of the commission, Malam Abubakar Salihu, made the announcement at a news briefing on Tuesday in Yola.

Salihu attributed the increment in the Hajj fare to rising operational costs, exchange rate fluctuations and inflation.
He said that the decision was made after careful consideration and consultations with relevant stakeholders.
According to him, the commission is committed to providing the best possible services, while ensuring transparency and accountability in the utilisation of the funds.

He called on intending pilgrims to always adhere to the rules and regulations both in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia to enhance a hitch-free and successful pilgrimage.

Salihu also stressed the need for intending pilgrims to comply with the procedures and protocols established by the commission.
He emphasised the importance of continuous orientation and education for the intending pilgrims.

The executive secretary reiterated his commitment to ensuring a successful and memorable Hajj pilgrimage for the intending pilgrims in the state.
