…As Netherlands reports over 11,000 new infections for first time***
The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 170 new COVID-19 cases with three coronavirus -related deaths recorded in 10 states and Federal Capital Territory in the last 24 hours.
The NCDC made this known via its verified website on Friday.
The public health agency said that the new confirmed brings the nation’s total number of COVID-19 infections to 62,691.
The newsmen report that more than 620,758 samples have been tested by the agency, out of which 62,691 were positive in the country.
The agency stated that 181 patients were successfully treated and have now been discharged from isolation centres across the country.

Other states are Bauchi-2, Benue-2, Kano-1, Osun-1 and Rivers-1.
The NCDC noted that as of Oct. 30, 2020, 170 new confirmed cases and three deaths were recorded in the country.
Till date, 62,691 cases have been confirmed, 58,430 cases have been discharged and 1,144 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The public health agency said that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continued to coordinate the national response activities.
In the meantime, the Netherlands recorded more than 11,000 infections within 24 hours for the first time on Friday, though authorities partially blamed the high number on a technical issue.
The National Institute for Public Health and Environment (RIVM) registered 11,141 new cases, an increase of 865 from the previous day.
However, due to a technical glitch on Wednesday, reports were only now being counted, authorities said, adding that more people are also currently being tested for the virus.
In total, the Netherlands has counted more than 330,000 cases so far and roughly 7,350 deaths.
Despite the record figures, the RIVM is confident that the rate of infection is slowing, though the increase in the number of patients needing to go to the hospital and requiring intensive care is worrying.
The number of deaths is also rising, with an average of 54 deaths reported over the past seven days, compared with 37 the week before.
The government has threatened to implement harsher measures if the infection rate doesn’t significantly sink.
