The newly appointed Chairman, Association of Registered Freight Forwarders, AREFFN, Tin Can Island Port Chapter, Mr. Chinedu Ukachikwu has pledged to embark on training and retraining of members at the chapter level and to regularly engaged Customs and other stakeholders in the promotion of international trade.
Ukachikwu made the pledge while the National Secretary General, AREFFN, Mr. Frank Obiekezie was presenting letters of appointment to him and other appointed executives at Tin Can in Apapa.
The new Chairman said “I will add more strength to my predecessor’s, and other collective ideas by my executives will be looked into in the next three months to achieve greatness.

Subsequently, he appointed new executives to pilot the affairs of the association.
Others appointed along with Chinedu Ukachukwu as Chairman were Abdullahi Namama as Vice Chairman; Oke Ucheya as Secretary and Musa Gbadamosi as Public Relations Officer.
Charles Nnaji was appointed as the Treasurer; Etta Ekpeyong as the Woman Leader; Odushola Justina as Welfare Officer and Margaret Ego Eberechukwu as Welfare Officer 2.

Speaking, the National Secretary General, AREFFN, Mr. Frank Obiekezie stated that the new executives have to play a major role by making sure they live up to expectations, over the operational activities at Tin Can Island Port.

Obiekezie insisted that the new executives are to inject fresh ideas and innovation to the Association for effective performance pointing out that AREFFN is not contesting with other associations in the freight forwarding sub-sector.
He said AREFFN as a registered association and accredited body under the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding In Nigeria, CRFFN, must bring close, effective interaction and engagement with customs on trade facilitation adding that capacity building must top its agenda for members.
