Israel struck Syrian army targets in Tel Al-Hara, where Western intelligence sources previously said Iranian-backed militias are based, Syrian official news agency SANA reported Tuesday.
According to reports, at least two Syrian soldiers were wounded and Syrian air defense responded to the strike.
The targets Israel struck belonged to the Syrian army and to militias working with it, Syrian media reported.
Tel Al-Hara is a strategically located area in southern Deraa province overlooking the Golan Heights. It was for many years a major Russian military radar outpost until rebels took it over in 2014 before it was again recaptured by the Syrian army last year.
According to Syrian media outlet Quneitra Today, other attacks took place in Sasa near Damascus and in Quneitra.
Sources affiliated with the Assad regime said that explosions were heard after midnight on Tuesday night, and blasts were seen close to Mount Hermon. Local media outlets later reported that around 1:30 A.M., another strike happened – also targeting military positions in the area of Quneitra.
Israel has yet to comment on the incident.

At the beginning of July, sixteen people including a baby were killed and 21 were wounded by an Israeli attack on multiple Syrian and Iranian targets on the outskirts of Damascus and Homs, Syrian state-run al-Ikhbariya broadcaster reported. The targets were Iranian arms supplies for Hezbollah.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said 16 people were killed, among them three children and ten Iranian militias and Hezbollah members. The observatory added that the Israeli Navy also took part in the strike, targeting ten Hezbollah bases, including compounds that were used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
Last month, Syrian media reported that the country’s aerial defense systems intercepted several Israeli army rockets that were fired toward Tel Al-Hara, causing damage but no injuries.
Several days earlier, two rockets were launched from Syria toward Mount Hermon. In retaliation, Israeli fighter jets struck targets on the Syrian Golan Heights. The Israeli military said that among the targets struck were two artillery batteries as well as observation posts, intelligence posts and Syrian aerial defense systems. A Syrian military source said that three Syrian soldiers were killed and seven others were wounded.
