An FCT High Court on Wednesday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Mr Olanrewaju Olusola, who stood as surety for two Sri Lankans accused of forgery.
Recall that Saththiyaraj Kantharasa, Vinith Ukantharasa, and a Nigerian, Anthony Adetokunboh, were arraigned over alleged possession of fake Malaysian passports and making a false statement.
They were arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on seven counts.
Justice Olasumbo Goodluck, gave the order after the court was informed by ICPC counsel, Mr Aniekan Ekong that Kantharasa and Ukantharasa and their surety were not in court.
Olusola had on June 24 appealed to the court to grant him an adjournment to enable him produce the Sri Lankans, who the court issued bench warrants on May 13.
He assured the court that day that he was working in collaboration with the ICPC and police to get hold of the two Sri Lankans.
At the resumed sitting, Ekong informed the court that the prosecution was ready to proceed with the trial of the third defendant, Adetokunboh.

When asked by the court of the whereabouts of the first and second defendants, the prosecutor told the court that both of them were absent.
He added that their surety who had promised at the last sitting to produce them had yet to do so and was also not in court.
Justice Goodluck, therefore, issued a bench warrant for Olusola to show cause why he has not produced the two foreigners.
Counsel for the third defendant, Mr Ogochukwu Njoku, informed the court that he had a pending application filed for the bail of his client.
Goodluck adjourned until July 17 for hearing in the bail application of the third defendant.
