Chief Engineer missing, not found

…As Turkish freighter stuck in Corinth Canal, freed***

Chief Engineer of general cargo ship MARIWIT was reported missing in the afternoon Nov 24, he was last seen in engine room when the ship was leaving Penang, Malaysia.

SAR was launched, but Chief Engineer, 49-year old Chinese nationality, wasn’t found. The ship arrived at port of destination Kemaman, Malaysia, South China sea, on Nov 26.

In the meantime, general cargo ship VERA ROSE got stuck in Corinth Canal in Isthmia area while transiting Canal in western direction, in the morning Nov 25.

Tug was called, the ship resumed moving in about an hour. She completed transit and continued voyage to Sibenik, en route from Istanbul.

Not clear what happened, it was said that the ship ran into some constructions.
