The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Niger/Kwara/Kogi Area Command has made seizure of 750 Cartons of 189,000 Live Ammunition worth N 63,504,000.
The Command posted a revenue figure of N210,466,789.18 in January’s anti-smuggling activities, recording a feat which included 5 seizures of vehicles and rice with duty paid value of N4,570,200.
The Customs Area Controller, Yusif Abba-Kasim who disclosed this said the Command was also awarded a certificate of merit by the World Customs Organization on the 26th of January 2018, during the international Customs Day celebration at Abuja. The award was for ’RENDERING EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE TO THE INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS COMMUNITY.
The Comptroller said the Command not only lived up to expectations in the area of revenue generation and in anti-smuggling activities, but also recorded 134 seizures and generated N2, 434,028,554.66 into Federation Account.
Providing a breakdown, Abba-Kasim said a total number of 12,497 bags of 50kg rice were impounded within the period under review, with a Duty Paid Value of N 285,094,700.
Describing as strategic and momentous, he noted that his command also made a seizure of 41 vehicles with duty Paid value of N64,530,936 only; in addition to general goods which included items such as Sugar, Used Tyres, foot wears etc with duty paid value of N5,530,836.
Speaking further, he also accounted for a seizure of 17,300 liters of Vegetable Oil with duty paid Value of N8, 306,200.
