Decision makers, Stakeholders swoop on Benin, as Ogbeifun buries Matriarch

Decision makers and Nigerian Maritime Industry Stakeholders on Thursday swooped on Benin City to felicitate with the nation’s foremost shipping mogul, Engr. Greg Utowen Ogbeifun, as the final rites of his mother, Matriarch Cecilia Izogie Ogbeifun began.

Present were the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Local Content Development and Monitoring Board, Mr. Simbi Wabote, an Ibadan High Chief and former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Adebayo Babatunde Sarumi; former Boss of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Capt. Adamu Biu; immediate past National President, Association of Nigerian License Customs Agents, Prince Olayiwola Shittu;  etc.

Deaconness Ogbeifun (Nee Osemwengie) passed on to Glory on the 7th of March 2019, at Benin City, at the ripe age of 100 years, having lived a highly selfless but fulfilled Christian life, touching lives.

Speaking at the occasion, the Matriarch’s first child and daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Izegbuwa Idele (Nee OGBEIFUN’S) said her mother had 10 Children, who are all alive, who have collectively given Mama, 42 grand children, who are all alive; and who have honourably produced 22 great grand children for the Matriarch. They are also, all alive.

From the lying- in-law State to the Day’s sermon, unto the internment, the entire atmosphere was loaded with joy, exhilarating exhortations, and admiration.

Speaking before her internment, a second generation member of the Matriarch, David Osamudiamen Ogbeifun pleaded with everyone to live their lives in fear of the Lord Jesus, stressing that the Matriarch lived for her community and the Church.

“Without expecting an earthly reward, you took us in, you followed my children to school everyday, you followed them to the hospital when they were sick; and to the Church to teach them the way of God when they were stranded in Nigeria”.

Though observably happy, Engr. Ogbeifun was too quiet to talk, except the normal expression of appreciation to guests who attended the joyous event.

The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki is expected to preside over the event of today.
