The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Zone ‘B’ Federal Operations Unit (FOU), has seized 250 parcels of goods amongst other smuggled goods worth N275.989 million between Dec. 22, 2021 and Jan. 27.

ENUGU: Police, Customs collaborate to boost Trade facilitation

Trade facilitation may be set for a significant boost as the Enugu State Police and the Nigeria Customs Service, NIS Command flagged off a partnership towards enhancing understanding and security. 

The Enugu State Police Commissioner, Mr Sulaiman Balarabe on Thursday led some senior officers of in the command on a courtesy visit to Mr Jammal Adediran, Comptroller of Customs in-charge of Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi Command, assuring the Customs Service, of sincere partnership and collaboration towards developing synergy.

Said Balarabe: “I am here in your command to officially register my presence in the state.

“I also thank you for the existing cooperation between the police and customs service in the state and to further seek for the continued cooperation,’’ he said, noting that both the Nigeria Police and Nigeria Customs had an age old relationship which must be maintained for a safe and secured environment.

“The police command under my watch will continue to maintain the partnership and tie between the two organizations in the state,’’ he said.

Responding, Adediran thanked the commissioner of police for the visit, describing it as a step in the right direction.

“Under my watch as the comptroller of Customs in the state, I will continue to partner the police to ensure the full realization of the Nigeria Customs Service mandate as well as a safe and secured State,’’ he  said.
