Hudson Trident floats Maritime Training Centre to Save Nigeria hard currency- Are

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) may soon begin to save the nation huge sums of money on cadets’ foreign training, as Hudson Trident Limited floats a state of the art institution in Lagos, saturated with simulators.

The Hudson Trident Limited Managing Director, Mr Lai Are, while broaching on the subject, yesterday also noted that the Centre was specifically designed to meet the needs of stakeholders in both the Maritime and the Oil and Gas industry.

“We have initiated a great idea. What is left is for stakeholders like NIMASA to embrace the idea of training their personnel and cadets here in Nigeria”, he stated, adding that the Center presently located at 6 Sule Saffi Street, Lekki Phase 1 in Lagos, Nigeria’s South West, is expected to save cost, help in rebuilding the dwindling economy and create more jobs.

In order to make learning easy, and enhance quick assimilation and practical made easy process.

Subsequently, the training center has come up with sophisticated simulators which included Tug Boat Stimulator, Offshore-Supply Vessel/Ship Simulator, Dynamic Positioning Crane Simulator, Liquid Cargo Handling and GMDSS simulators, as well as the Engine Room Simulator.

Lai explained that the simulators create daily occurrence scenerio on the sea and provide solutions which makes it easier for the learner when being faced with such situation in real life, because the need for the learner to be abreast with such life threatening scenarios cannot be overlooked.

Shedding light on the need to ensure the center meets international standards, the Managing Director gave insight into their courses, saying it covers courses in ship handling, Offshore Supply Vessel Manoeuvering Course, Tug Handling Course, Dynamic Positioning Course, Offshore Supply Vessel Seafarer Course, Pilotage and Tug Masters Course, GMDSS Course and Crane Handling Course.

“We want to make the specialized learning processes interesting”, he explained, adding that this was why his company came up with the series of simulating services, aimed at catering to both the present and future occurrences during the process of learning with its state of the art maritime learning equipments, including simulators.

“The training center will provide mandatory and non mandatory trainings that complies with international and local standards and regulations”, he concluded.
