…As Anambra Police arrests Woman, for using girls to beg for alms***
While many Nigerians were in clubs and sundry relaxation centres for the Valentine’s Day celebration, bandits numbering over 200 on motorbikes, armed with AK 47 rifles, invaded and attacked Dankar and Tsauwa villages of Batsari LGA of Katsina state, shooting sporadically.
The Katsina State Police Command Spokesman, SP Isah Gambo noted that they simultaneously invaded and attacked them around 7pm (19hours) killing about 30 persons, while looting and burning houses.
“A joint operations of Puff Adder and Sharan Daji of both police and military were drafted to the scenes and engaged the bandits in gun duel.
“The bandits escaped into the forest. At Tsauwa village, the hoodlums killed 21 persons mostly elderly; and torched some houses. While at Dankar they killed nine persons and no house was burnt by the hoodlums.
“The bandits were said to be on reprisal action following the killing of one of their own by the villagers.
“In the course of investigation one suspected bandit was arrested and nine motorcycles recovered by the joint operations. Investigation is on going”, the PPRO stated further.

In another development, in Anambra State, Police detectives attached to Ogbunike Division have arrested at Oye Olisa Market, Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area, a 37 year old woman, one Mrs Ngozi Dike, of Umuaka Town, Isu-Njaba LGA of Imo State, for using two teenage girls to beg for alms, feigning blindness.
The State Police Command spokesman, Haruna who disclosed this said his men acted based on tip off.
“On the 15/02/2020, at about 11:48am (Saturday) following intelligence report, Police detectives attached to Ogbunike Division arrested at Oye Olisa Market, Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area, one Mrs Ngozi Dike, ‘f’ aged 37years, of Umuaka Town, Isu-Njaba LGA of Imo State.
“Suspect pretended to be afflicted with blindness, and was using two teenage girls namely; Blessing Ezenwanne ‘f’, aged 8years, of Ugwuta Town and Favour Ezeagu, f’ aged 11years of Nwari, Ohaji-Egbema of Imo State, to beg for alms.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is neither blind, nor afflicted with any ailment as she claimed and that she decieved the parents of the teenage girls that she want to train them in school, but instead use them for begging in the market.
“Case is under investigation after which suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, *CP John B.Abang, urges parents and guardians to be wary of those they entrust their children to, in other not to expose them to moral danger”, the Anambra State Police Command, PPRO Haruna Mohammed stated further.
