The Lagos Channel Management, a Joint Venture Company of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on Tuesday donated more than N3million worth of medicals to the Lagos State Government Accident Emergency Centre (LASAEC).
As part of its corporate social responsibility to the state, the LCM Managing Director, Danny Fuchs while doing the presentation in Lagos to LASAEC team, highlighted that though his company was established in 2005 to manage the Lagos channels, he was very happy to participate in the symbolic task of meeting the needs of the Accident and Emergency Centre in the area of safety and rescue.
“We received a letter of support and since it’s from Lagos State, I saw the need for LCM to participate in it.
“However, I asked that the Centre tells us what their needs are, since its quite obvious that they already have a lot of facility”, Danny stated, mentioning how the Nigerian Ports Authority Joint Venture company procured N3.1m medicals.
Speaking earlier, the LASAEC Managing Director, Ajibola Ishola stated that the centre which is only funded by the Lagos State Government do not charge victims who are often unconscious when they are rushed to the Centre and also do not seek to know anybody’s identity before offering them treatment.
He indicated that ever since the establishment of the centre over seven years ago, it had stood the test of time rescuing victims and stabilizing life even though it has never issued a single receipt to any of the victims.
“The Centre is on full time and it doesn’t charge anyone a kobo. Once an ambulance drops the victims the centre takes over”, the Managing Director, ably represented by one of the Directors, Deji Oshunniyi explained, highlighting that the victims or casualties range from those of gunshot wounds, collapsed buildings, road accident etc.
“Our basic job is to first stabilize them, ensure they remain alive until they are strong enough to be transferred to a hospital.
“The concept is that people are never ready for emergency; and that is why the state government has deemed it fit to fill in this important gap”, he stated further, noting that even when they bring an important personality to the centre, he is too unconscious to be able to help himself”.
The items donated includes Metronidazole Ciprofloxacin Infusion BP, Absorbent Cotton BP Hydrophylic, Amolodipine, Amoxin Capsules, Superdent Latex Examination Gloves, Injections, Bandages, Urine Bags, Antibiotics Infusion, Canulars, Ceftriazxone F9 of injection, Nylon Monofilament, Riotexmedica, Unisal Intravenous Infusion Bp amongst others.
The team of Lagos Channel Management at the event includes the Managing Director, Mr. Danny Fuchs, Company Secretary, Mrs. Bunmi Seun- Adedamola, Mrs. Ore Opesanwo Adeeko, Head Human Resources Prince Ifalade Oyekan; Safety Officer, Mr. Suleiman Ibrahim, and a representative of the Technical Department, Mr. Abdul Ibrahim; while the Lagos State Government Accident Emergency Centre (LASAEC) team includes Medical Director Dr. Wale Adegbite, Director Deji Oshunniyi, and Hospital Accountant Mrs. Aderonke Oseni.
