… As Kano Court remands man for allegedly stealing 2 drilling machines***
A 23 year old suspect, Paul Anthony who allegedly specialise in stealing phones in Church has been remanded by a Badagry Court.
The Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Friday ordered the remand of the suspect over alleged pinching of two mobile phones in a church.
The defendant had pleaded guilty to stealing the phones, both valued at N110,000, at the premises of the Celestial Church of Christ, Oluwatife Parish, Ibereko, Badagry.
According to the prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Adeosun, the defendant committed the theft on Aug. 30, at 12a.m.
He said that the defendant stole a Tecno Spark 2 and an Infinix phone, both belonging to one Mr Sunkanmi Dosu.
The prosecutor said that the accused was caught after the theft and handed over to the police.
He noted that theft contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadaunsi Adefioye, adjourned the case until Sept.10, for review of the facts and sentencing.
In another development, a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano, on Friday ordered the remand of a 25-year-old man, Inusa Hamisu, in a correctional centre for allegedly stealing two drilling machines valued, N100,000.
The Chief Magistrate, Mustapha Sa’ad-Datti, adjourned the case until Oct.4, for mention.
The defendant, who resides at Karkasara Quarters Kano, is facing charges bordering on criminal trespass and theft.
The Prosecutor, Miss Asma’u Ado, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in July, 2021 at Sallari Quarters, Kano.
Ado alleged that the defendant sometime in July criminally trespassed into a shop situated at Sallari Quarters, Kano and stole two drilling machines valued N100,000.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
