The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded to the collapsed 4-floor building which it said was already in violation of building safety protocols.
According to the Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, it was discovered that the building had been captured by the LASBCA District Office and served with all Statutory Notices, Sealed at District and Central Enforcement Level.
Further investigation showed that the developer had continued clandestine operations mostly at night and at the weekends.
He hinted that the unconfirmed number of people were still trapped inside the building while two people have been rescued alive and another one recovered dead.
“Search and Rescue operations ongoing. Further updates to follow”, the Permanent Secretary said.
