Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Oyo State Command, on Wednesday, pledged to train both commercial and private drivers at the University of Ibadan, as part of efforts to reduce frequent road accidents in the state.
The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mrs Uche Chukwurah, made the pledge when the command paid a courtesy visit to the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mrs Uche Chukwurah, in his office in Ibadan.

Chukwurah said the training was part of the command’s efforts aimed at realising 15 per cent reduction in road traffic crashes (RTC) and sustaining a safer motoring environment.
She said that the command would also enlighten and sensitizing the drivers in order to reduce road crashes within the institution and the state in general.
The sector commander, while congratulating the vice-chancellor on his appointment, commended the management of the institution for the support accorded the Special Marshals, Unit 47.
She said that the support had greatly assisted the special marshals in the discharge of their humanitarian services to the university community.
In his remarks, the vice-chancellor commanded the corps for its efforts at making the country’s highways safe for all road users through continuous public enlightenment and advocacy to the citizens and corporate organisations.
He also seized the occasion to elucidate on the programmes put in place to promote road safety ideals and educate the university community on the need to be safety conscious.
Adebowale said that the management had approved a place to situate the proposed Drivers’ Licence Centre, which had earlier been requested by FRSC.
He assured the corps of the institution’s support and partnership toward ensuring a safer motoring environment.
