… As Jamoh endorses 151 Inductees, Comprising 58 Members and 93 Associate members***
Nigeria’s foremost transport institute, the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA) on Tuesday, assured that the CIoTA would ensure the country no longer lacks credible and reliable advocacy needed to entrench a functional transportation system in Nigeria.
The CIoTA President, Dr. Bashir Jamoh gave the assurance during CIoTA’s Mid-year Membership Induction Ceremony, which was held at the Conference Hall of the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research Yaba, Lagos, under the Chairmanship of His Royal Majesty, the Elejinrin of Ejirinrin Land, Oba Rafiu Ishola Balogun.

The Institute’s President stressed that as a progressive Institution, CIoTA will neither relent nor rest on it’s oars, in advocating for an efficient and effective transportation system across all modes, for greater national economic prosperity.
The theme of the Tuesday, 19th July 2022 event which had a total number of elected inductees of 151, with 58 Members and 93 Associate members
was: “Building Professional Career In The Transport Industry”.
The guests maintained the theme aptly captured the urgent demand of the Sector.
Welcoming the distinguished stakeholders, Dr. Jamoh highlighted that the professional membership of the institute through prestigious, it would still be given to every deserving men and women with relevantly, enviable socio-economic activities.
He described the mid-year induction ceremony as a very significant event, in the annals of the institute, noting that hitherto, the induction event was usually held only at the Institute’s annual summits in Abuja.
The CIoTA Arrowhead stated that the induction of distinguished and eminent individuals at the auspicious occasion was in line with the Institute’s culture of churning out professionals, Nigeria needs, to meet the demands for knowledge and certification of professionals in the sector.
He expressed his satisfaction that the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria had raised the bar as the only chartered transport and administration institute in Nigeria.
Consequently, upon conferment of membership and grades, the new Inductees took the oath of allegiance, after being charged to be excellent ambassadors, with the obligation to pursue and actualize the Mission and Vision of the Institute.
In his remark, the Deputy President Mr. Darlington Ofor stated that CIoTA had always played the leading role in the actualization of seamless and reliable support for the development of the transport sector across all transport modes and urged Stakeholders to continue to collaborate for professional utilization of expertise in the Sector.
The Chairman of the occasion, His Royal Highness, Oba Rafiu Balogun who spoke through his representative, a Governing Council member, Dr. Dom Obiajulu disclosed that the present administration is working to consolidate the Institute’s mandate through the implementation of policies that would bring significant improvement to the foundation laid by its founding fathers.
He took all participants through the memory lane, emphasizing the great contributions of the founding fathers, which have continued to make the Institute attractive to more professionals.
He maintained that in order to stay in line with the vision, all members must play their integral roles in contributing and ensuring meaningful development of the sector.
In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said that the State is committed to meeting the transport needs of a rapidly growing population through the introduction of Lagos Bus Services Limited.
He explained the ongoing projects currently under execution in the bid to continue providing a well-structured transport system that would address traffic gridlock across the metropolis.
Goodwill messages came from several dignitaries which included the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Katsina State, Engr Billy Aminu Mohammed Albaba; former President of the Institute, Princess Mulikat Sanni; Prince Segun Obayende of GMD Temple Group; a representative of the Nigerian Army Logistics and Director Army Signals, Brigadier General, Dr. Y.I Zubair; the TRACE Commandant, Ogun State,
Prince Seni Ogunyemi; as well as Mr. Femi Akinlabi, and Dr. Mrs. Lillian Chibor.
In their presentations, a transportation industry guru, Prof. Bamidele Badejo, and Prof. Charles Asenime underscored the appropriateness of the theme of the induction ceremony: “Building Professional Career in the Transport Industry”, by informing the inductees to utilize the privilege of being part of the memorable event and CIoTA network for deeper synergy and collaboration across all the transport modes, for strategic integration purposes.
The new Inductees were advised to apply their knowledge and robust content of the Institute’s curriculum as a standard in executing their professional roles for a transportation Sector that will optimally be beneficial to everyone’s day-to-day movements.
Speaking in the same vein, the Interim Executive Chairman, coordinating the Institute’s Affairs in Lagos State, Dr. Taiwo Salaam, and other Executive Dr. Adeyemi Ajao assured that CIoTA would continue to proffer solutions towards significantly meeting the transportation needs of all Nigerians.
The Institute’s National Publicity Secretary and Chairperson, Media and Publicity Committee Mrs. Chizoba Anyika who anchored the event, in closing, summed up the Mid-year event, urging the new members to take advantage of their new status to expand their knowledge frontiers, professional prowess and rapidly enhancing profiles.
