Strike Healthy Balance: Protect The Family, Adeniyi Tells Authorities

Ace Public Relations manager and former national image-maker, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Deputy Comptroller Wale Adeniyi has urged practitioners, professionals and top hierarchy decision makers to always strive for a healthy balance in their jobs, to avoid undue punishments, on their immediate families.

The Public Relations guru and revered Council member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) made the observation last Wednesday in Lagos, while being honoured by the NIPR Council and senior hierarchies, at the Academy Inn, Agidimgbi, Ikeja, particularly, for deploying all that the Council taught, for serving dexterously, and for leaving the stable, with the Service image, without blemish.

“I feel specially honoured that my constituency which I have served for almost twenty years has deemed it this fit, to put this together for me. I am indeed very very appreciative and I want to start by registering my appreciation to the President of the (NIPR) Council, the Deputy Register and everybody that has worked very hard to put this Event together. I want to say a very big thank you, to all of you, from the depth of my heart.

“Now like I would always say, service is paramount to everything that we do. It is a call that I personally have that, whenever am call to serve, I don’t look back, I don’t consider personal consideration, I don’t consider monetary consideration, and there are times the family also suffer, anytime am call upon to serve.

NIPR“I know it can be a very big responsibility for you to strike the healthy balance between your obligations to your family and your obligation to where you work, and there may be times when the family may suffers, particularly the kids and madam”, he observed, yet he enjoined those in positions of authorities, to ensure that where possible, avoidable punishments was not inflicted on the children, especially, in their developing years; stressing that he spoke from point of understanding.

“You know to me there is nothing bigger than this, that people recognize the fact that you have done well and they are honouring you. At times, it is not measured in terms of how many zeros you have behind the numbers you have in your bank account; to me , it is not about the number of houses you have built; to me it is not about how many times you can cross the Atlantic or the Pacific; to me it is about the kind of happiness you create for yourself and for the people around you; and at every moment, through my service, am always very glad when people feel ‘Oh! There is a touch-point you have done in my life, in my career, in my business’.

“So, that to me epitomizes service and that is what I have sworn to give as long as I have the energy and breathe to do it”, Adeniyi indicated further, recalling that he met the NIPR National President, Dr. Rotimi Oladele four years earlier, praising him for being a smooth, yet highly effective, efficient and productive performer.

“Now back to NIPR, I met my brother less than four years ago, but before I met him, I had read so much about him. The first time I was to meet him, we went to TRIBUNE House; my brother here was to broker a meeting with the Tribune managers, which unfortunately though did not hold but, we still got what we wanted, we wanted support for the Service from the Tribune; somehow we still got it”, he concluded.

Guests in attendance included the Executive Director, Human Resources & Admin, SIFAX Group, Dr. Fola Rogers-Saliu;  Special Assistance to the President, NIPR, Prince Abiodun Olatunbosun; Senior Manager, Operations NIPR, George S. Akpan; Asst.
